Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania by Peyton Reed
Review by Penelope B, Youth Reviewer
Peyton Reed directed the Marvel film “Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania” based on the Marvel comics. The stars of this film are: Paul Rudd, Evangeline Lily, Kathryn Newton, and Jonathan Majors, along with Michael Douglas and Michele Pfeiffer. The movie takes place after “Avengers: Endgame” and is also the first film of Phase Five in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Since the film is after “Endgame”, Cassie (Kathryn Newton), the daughter of Scott Lang or Ant-Man (Paul Rudd), is now a teenager and has been working on a device to contact the Quantum Realm. When she accidentally achieves her goal she meets natives and the ruler of the Realm, Kang (Jonathan Majors). From there on out, the main characters must fight for their lives and find a way to escape the mania of the Quantum Realm.
I found that this film was good compared to the other Marvel movies that have recently come out, such as “Thor: Love and Thunder”, but it still does not compare to the older Marvel films. In “Quantumania”, I thought the film would have been better if some characters and scenes had been cut out. But it was still enjoyable to watch.
Movies to watch like “Quantumania” would be the two previous films in Phase Two: “Ant-Man”, and Phase Three: “Ant-Man and the Wasp”. Other films where Ant-Man appears are “Captain America: Civil War” and “Avengers: Endgame”. Though “Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania” was not my favourite Marvel movie, I would still rewatch the film. It was still fun, and the Ant-Man character is always entertaining.
