Train to Busan by Yeon Sang-ho
Review by Haadiya A., Youth Reviewer
If you are looking for an emotion-packed, adventure and zombie horror movie, then “Train To Busan” is the perfect movie for you. “Train to Busan” is a horror thriller which was released in 2016. As Seok-Woo is taking his daughter to see her mother on a train, a zombie virus starts to spread, leaving them stuck in the train. Little do they know, someone on the train is already infected. Seok-Woo tries to get his daughter to Busan, where it is safe. However, Seok-Woo, his daughter, and a small group of individuals that are also trying to get to Busan must go through many challenges and face many obstacles and problems, all while worrying for their loved ones. Honestly, this little summary cannot do the movie justice.
Where do I even start? This has got to be my favourite zombie movie of all time — and trust me, I've watched a lot of zombie content. I am not a horror fan, but this movie was the perfect mix of horror that was scary in the moment, but didn't give me nightmares. I spent most of my time crying and feeling so much excitement while watching, rather than being scared. The plot is very interesting and gets you hooked right away. Not to mention the amazing acting done by the actors, making the movie even better. Though I would warn you about the bloody and a bit disturbing content. (It is a zombie movie after all). This movie also had many important lessons and themes brought up: such as love, sacrifice and putting others before you. It also has a sequel, “Peninsula”, which takes place 4 years after the zombie virus spreads in South Korea, and it did not disappoint. If you wanna spend a night crying your eyes out and being filled with excitement, make sure to watch “Train To Busan.”
