(You)th Advisory Council

The (You)th Advisory Council is an opportunity for creative teens (12-18) to make a positive contribution to their public library by working on special projects, such as creating a podcast episode and the Teen Summer Challenge.

(You)th Reviewers

(You)th Reviewers write reviews on podcasts, music, movies, television shows, theatre/live performances, or books. The reviews are posted on Kitchener Public Library's website. This is a virtual opportunity for teens ages 12-18.

(You)th Editors

(You)th Editors play an integral part in getting reviews ready for posting on Kitchener Public Library's website. This is a virtual opportunity for teens in Grades 11 or 12.

Content is submitted by volunteers who are part of our (You)th Reviewers team. They submit reviews about podcasts, movies, music, television shows, or books on a monthly basis.

(You)th Performers

(You)th Performers play music at the Country Hills Library to bring enjoyment to customers and build positive relationships between youth and our community. This opportunity is for teens ages 14-18.

(You)th Postcards

(You)th Postcards volunteers create content (creative writing and/or visual art) which are shared with Pioneer Park Library customers in order to create connections between teens and library customers. This is a virtual opportunity for teens ages 14-18.

(You)th Artist in Residence

The (You)th Artist in Residence is a virtual volunteer opportunity for youth aged 12-18. Volunteers submit artwork for the (You)th Instagram account in their preferred medium (painting, photography, drawing, etc.).

(You)th Musician in Residence

The (You)th Musician in Residence is an in-person volunteer opportunity for youth aged 14-18. Volunteers work with audio recording technology available in Heffner Studio at Central Library (85 Queen St. N) to compose, record and perform music under the mentorship of our Audio/Video Associate.

(You)th Writer in Residence

The (You)th Writer in Residence is a virtual volunteer opportunity for youth aged 12-18. Volunteers submit creative writing for the (You)th Instagram account in their preferred writing style.

The (You)th Chef in Residence is an in-person volunteer opportunity for youth aged 14-18. Volunteers assist the Teen Librarian with offering cooking programs for children (Grades 3 and 4) at Central Library (85 Queen St. N).

Reading Buddies (English)

Share your love of reading with a child. Our Reading Buddy program matches volunteers with young students (grades 1-4) who have learned the fundamentals of reading but need practice. You will read stories together, play literacy games and foster a love of reading in a child. This opportunity is for volunteers ages 15+.

Reading Buddies (French)

Share your love of reading with a child. Our Reading Buddy program matches volunteers with young students (grades 1-4) who have learned the fundamentals of reading but need practice. You will read stories together, play literacy games and foster a love of reading in a child.​ French Reading Buddy volunteers must be able to provide instruction in French and encourage students to engage in French conversations. This opportunity is for volunteers ages 15+.
