KITCHENER, ON – Kitchener Public Library’s Board has approved a new strategic plan for 2025-2028. The plan, Creating a Better Future Together, was developed with input from thousands of community members, volunteers, staff, board members and partners to guide the library into the future. Kitchener Public Library is an award-winning, dynamic community destination, and the new plan elevates our role in supporting the wellbeing of the people and community we serve.
The new plan identifies three strategic choices to focus Kitchener Public Library’s work and its role in advancing an enriched, caring and inclusive future for Kitchener. The new strategic choices are:
- Drive Intentional Impact: Strengthen how we support people by evolving our work and sharing stories of impact.
- Be a Caring Organization: Be thoughtful and proactive in how we work to care for Kitchener Public Library team members, the city and the planet.
- Learn and Create Together: Enhance our ability to collaboratively and continuously improve experiences and reduce inequities.
“We’re optimistic about the future at Kitchener Public Library and our ability to make a meaningful impact across our city,” said Brandon Van Dam, Kitchener Public Library’s Board Chair. “The library plays an important role in the day-to-day lives of so many, so we want to build on our strengths and bolster our relationships to ensure we make an outsized impact.”
“This is an exciting strategic plan that unlocks new ways to design library services together with the community and focus our work on supporting wellbeing and improving people’s lives,” said Darren Solomon, Kitchener Public Library’s Chief Executive Officer. “Kitchener is a growing community in numbers and diversity, and our new plan ensures that Kitchener Public Library meets people’s needs both today and in the future.”
