KITCHENER, ON – Kitchener Public Library is launching a new lending service in two City of Kitchener community centres. The library lockers at Chandler Mowat and Victoria Hills Community Centres will make it easy for people to pick-up, browse, borrow, and return items in their local community centre without leaving their neighbourhood.

This new service is a pilot program in partnership between Kitchener Public Library and the City of Kitchener to connect library services to neighbourhoods with less access. To use the new service, Kitchener Public Library members can select a community centre as their hold pick-up location or visit a community centre to borrow an item from the small on-site browsing collection. Members can return their items to the library locker or any Kitchener Public Library location.

“We are excited to expand our impact by bringing library services closer to people who need them,” said Darren Solomon, Kitchener Public Library’s Chief Executive Officer. “Kitchener Public Library is focused on improving people’s wellbeing and our new library lockers connect more people to resources that can help them grow.”

“It’s a remarkable opportunity to partner with the library and increase access to the library’s incredible collections,” said Councillor, Chair of the Community Infrastructure & Services Committee, and Library Board Member Margaret Johnston. “This service will help people feel at home and connected to the library.”

Library lockers are available during community centre hours of operation. For more information on Chandler Mowat Community Centre and Victoria Hills Community Centre visit kitchener.ca/CommunityCentres
