Library Lockers

We're bringing the library to you!

Pick up holds, browse, borrow and return items from a library locker in your Community Centre. All you need is a library card!

Lockers are currently available at Chandler Mowat Community Centre and Victoria Hills Community Centre, during open hours only. The lockers are available on a first-come, first-served basis.

The library lockers are refreshed each week. You will have five days to pick up your hold(s).

Frequently Asked Questions

All the items in the locker will check out to you when you open the locker. If you no longer need an item, you can check it in and return it through the Return Items slot of the library locker.

If you don’t pick up your hold from the locker after five days, it will be returned to the library and available for the next borrower.

Your items will remain checked out on your card until Kitchener Public Library staff come to refresh the locker. We are proudly fines free which means you will not be charged for items, even if they are checked in after the due date.

Kitchener Public Library staff refresh the browsing collection each week. The collection is available first come, first served so if there are no items are available, they have all been borrowed for the week. Be sure to check back again to see what new items have arrived.

You must pick up holds using the same library card you used to place the holds.

The library lockers are used to borrow library items and not for personal storage. If you misplaced an item inside the locker when picking up your holds you can open the locker again for up to an hour. Press “Holds Pick Up” and scan your library card again and reselect your items for check out to open the locker. For further assistance call 519-743-0271 or email askkpl@kpl.org.

If you have an online membership, you can use your seven-digit library card number with the library lockers. Press ‘Enter Library Card Number’ on the screen and type in your seven-digit card number and PIN. Alternately, you can store your online membership digitally on a loyalty or wallet app on your phone. When using the library lockers, open the app to display and scan your library card number.
