October is a month to celebrate and honour cultural heritages!
In 2016, the Province of Ontario established October as Islamic Heritage Month. Across Canada, Islamic Heritage Month has been celebrated since 2007. It is a time to reflect, celebrate, and learn about Muslim people and culture.

Community Organizations
- Muslim Social Services Kitchener-Waterloo: A charitable organization dedicated to providing culturally and spiritually attuned humanitarian and social services to both Muslim and non-Muslim communities within the Waterloo Region. Services span across counseling, food bank provisions, and youth engagement programs.
- Islamic History Month Canada: This organization aims to share and celebrate the rich Muslim heritage with fellow Canadians. They are instrumental in informing, educating, and updating about various events and activities that are organized across Canada during the Islamic Heritage Month.
- Coalition of Muslim Women Kitchener-Waterloo: Established in 2010, CMW is a vibrant group of racialized Muslim women standing up against discrimination, Islamophobia, and gender-based violence. Their diverse team is dedicated to empowering Muslim women and girls to be community leaders. They focus on building bridges between Muslim women, youth, and the larger community.
- Muslim Association of Canada: A grassroots movement and charitable organization, MAC is committed to motivating Canadian Muslims to translate their faith into beneficial actions for all. They emphasize holistic education, personal growth, community building, and inter-community cooperation. They are dedicated to representing Islam as a balanced, moderate, and constructive way of life.
- Canadian Council of Muslim Women Waterloo-Wellington Chapter: Initiated in 2008, the Waterloo–Wellington Chapter of CCMW spans four cities and is dedicated to the empowerment of women. They were inspired by the efforts of the CCMW National Board and are actively involved in community participation.
