The Sun Is Also A Star by Nicola Yoon
Review by Reet K., Youth Reviewer
This book is written in a different and smooth way. The main characters that drive the entire story are Natasha and Daniel. We are shown both of these perspectives, and along the way, we will also find perspectives of other people thrown in. Those perspectives aren’t completely main characters, but their chapter definitely adds to the story. I loved that about this book. Sometimes, it felt a little overwhelming to me when the characters’ perspectives were changing quickly and were jumping back and forth. I found it a little hard for me to find my way through the book without getting confused. When the chapters were jumping from character to character, I needed to slow down and sometimes re-read a bit to properly comprehend the story. The storyline was great, though. I loved the characters that Nicola Yoon created for this story. They were types of characters that you would want to become friends with, and that made the book even more interesting to read.
The ending was so short but was better than the entire book. It had everything in it and was filled with emotions. The way this book ended made it 10x better for me and that would be my favourite part. I wasn’t expecting the ending too much. By the time I was thinking this book didn’t have much in it and I didn’t really like it, I read the end and that changed my thoughts about it. “The Sun is Also a Star” is a perfect story that gives you a break from reality. It just felt so perfect to read. I read the book pretty quickly because each page kept me going. I would definitely recommend this book to others. I was reading some thriller books and this gave me a break from that. It was an enjoyable read for sure.
