In order to help manage the volume of activity during the closure, we have temporarily paused the ability to put physical library items on hold. You will still be able to access and place holds on digital resources like ebooks and audiobooks. Click here for details.

Visiting Library Service
We deliver library material to people living in Kitchener who are unable to come to the library themselves.
Kitchener residents who are unable to visit the library because of restricted vision, mobility challenges, or long-term illness are eligible for this service. Seasonal service is also available during the winter months.
Every month, our Visiting Library service reaches out to eligible readers who live in private homes, long term-care centres, and retirement residences.
How it works
Visiting Library materials are selected according to your preferences, and you can request specific items at any time.
Kitchener Public Library has an extensive collection of fiction and non-fiction titles in regular print, large print and audio format. Customers can also borrow music CDs and some magazine titles. DAISY books are available to those unable to read print (CNIB guidelines apply).
Once you’ve registered with the service, you may receive your library material through:
- Home delivery - Carefully screened volunteers will select and deliver books to you on a monthly basis
- Branch delivery - Items chosen for you will be sent to any Kitchener Public Library location for pick-up by a family member or friend
Visiting Library is based on the generosity of volunteers who want to share the joy of the library with others.
