About the Songwriter-in-Residence Program

Dave Monks is a Canadian songwriter and musician best known as the frontman of Tokyo Police Club (TPC). Over nearly two decades, he has built a reputation for sharp, melodic indie rock that’s both energetic and emotionally resonant.

Alongside TPC’s acclaimed catalog, Monks has released solo records that showcase his versatility and vulnerability, as well as founding the collaborative project Anyway, Gang with members of Sloan, Hollerado, and Sam Roberts Band. This fall he is Songwriter-in-Residence at Kitchener Public Library, leading a series of workshops designed to help writers develop their craft across different stages of songwriting.
