National Volunteer Week
April 27 – May 3, 2008
Canadians have a rich history of volunteering and community involvement. National Volunteer Week (NVW) is a special time to honour and recognize those individuals who donate their time to help others.
A heartfelt thank you goes out to the volunteers of the Kitchener Public Library. They tutor, read, train, garden, select books, visit, prepare crafts, share ideas, assist with special events, maintain our book collections and so much more!
This year, KPL will be celebrating National Volunteer Week by:
- Hosting our annual Celebration of Thanks party
- Encouraging staff to wear volunteer spirit ribbons as a way to saying thanks
- Hosting a volunteer appreciation evening at The Children’s Museum – all volunteers are invited to the Jane Goodall exhibit for free!
- Posting a thank you message on the front sign of the Main Library and on our website
- Offing a free key cards to our volunteers
- Placing a ‘thank you’ ad in The Record
- Displaying National Volunteer Week posters at all KPL locations
- And creating a special volunteer display the window case of the Main Library’s front entrance
The Kitchener Public Library greatly appreciates the on-going support of our volunteers! They allow us to enhance library services in our community and we couldn’t do it without them.
National Volunteer Week is a time to reach out and thank someone who volunteers!
