Looking for a way to make a real difference this summer?

Join KPL's Summer Volunteer Program! During the summer, the Kitchener Public Library offers programs for children (ages 3 - 12 years) on a daily basis. You can assist us with these programs and help make our summer a great success! Whether you are preparing crafts, promoting our reading club of helping with special events - you are sure to make a difference! Why not spend part of your summer brightening a child's day? Apply now!

are 13 - 18 years of age (must be 13 as of June 1st, 2008)
commit to a two-week placement between during the summer.
have excellent communication and interpersonal skills
can work independently with minimal supervision
are able to interact with the public in a positive and professional manner
are eager to help KPL provide excellent programs for children

1.Fill out the Summer Teen Volunteer Application Form.
Incomplete forms will not be considered for placement

2. Ask 2 people to complete the KPL Volunteer Reference Form on your behalf.

3. Drop off the completed application, and both reference forms, to any KPL location by Friday, June 6, 2008. The number of participants is limited, so get your application in early!

4. As part of our screening practice, new applicants will be asked to participate in an interview.

5. KPL will send a confirmation letter to all successful candidates and confirm the details of the placement at that time.

6. Summer volunteers must attend one training session at the
Main Library on:

Monday June 16, 2008, 6:30 - 8:00 PM

Saturday June 21, 2008, 10:00 - 11:00 AM
