Books
and microfilm not owned by the Kitchener
Public Library may be requested from other
libraries in person at any KPL location,
by calling Infolink (519-743-7502), or by
submitting an Interlibrary
Loan Form online.
- Full
access KPL card holders can request up
to 4 Interlibrary Loans.

Check the KPL catalogue first. If we do
not have the book you would like, submit
an Interlibrary
Loan Form or ask staff to assist you
in processing your request.

Interlibrary loans take from 1 –
6 weeks to arrive. Archival material or
microfilm may take longer.
- We
will contact you once your item(s) have
arrived or if your request cannot be filled.

Interlibrary loans must be picked up within
3 days or a $2.00 fee will be charged.
The
following items may NOT be requested for
interlibrary loan:
- anything
in the KPL catalogue, including reference
material and e-books
- books
published in the past 12 months
- audiovisual
material, including DVDs, videos, cassettes
and talking books
- graphic
novels
- entire
issues of periodicals
Lending
fees:

Public libraries do not usually impose
a lending fee. We will always try to obtain
items from a non-charging location first.

Most university libraries have instituted
a lending fee, usually a minimum of $10.00.
Locations in the United States charge
a minimum of $20.00 U.S. and customs fees
may apply. Unless you pre-authorize fees
we will notify you before requesting from
a location that charges.
Microfilm:
-
To check for archival microfilm from the
Archives of Ontario, access the Microfilm
Interloan Service section of their
website. We will require the microfilm
reference code (GS1, GS2, MS, B), along
with the reel number and a brief description
of the item (i.e. vital statistics, court
records etc.). There is a limit of 3 microfilms
per customer.
- To
check for archival microfilm from the
Library and Archives of Canada, access
Archivianet.
The microfilm reference number is required,
along with a brief description of the
item (i.e. passenger lists, census returns,
land records etc.).
- Newspaper
microfilm requests should specify newspaper
name and date (year and month).
International
Languages:
- Requests
must be for a specific title.
- Please
supply the original title or author.
Magazine
Articles:
-
We require the title, date, issue, and
page numbers to order photocopies of articles.

Charges for photocopies or faxes are set
by the lending library.
Renewals:
-
Requests for renewal must be made at least
5 days before the due date and are granted
subject to the approval of the lending
library.
