Photographic Reproduction Policy

 

 

The Grace Schmidt Room holds an extensive collection of photographs of Kitchener (formerly Berlin) and Waterloo County dating back to the late nineteenth century. 

 

These photographs belong to the Kitchener Public Library and the Waterloo Historical Society.

 

 

Copyright and Conditions

 

The Grace Schmidt Room holds the photographic collections of both the Kitchener Public Library and the Waterloo Historical Society.

 

All images are provided for research and private use only

 

Researchers wishing to publish or display any images (including web display) must receive permission from the Kitchener Public Library or the Waterloo Historical Society, depending upon to which collection the photograph belongs

 

Neither the Kitchener Public Library nor the Waterloo Historical Society hold copyright for every image available in the Grace Schmidt Room, and therefore does not accept responsibility for the violation of copyright.

 

Researchers are responsible for obtaining necessary copyright permissions. The Local History Librarian will assist researchers to determine the copyright owner.

 

General information on copyright may be obtained from the Canadian Intellectual Property Office (CIPO).

Researchers must cite the Kitchener Public Library or the Waterloo Historical Society for every image. Advice about the proper citation can be obtained from the Local History Librarian at KPL.

 

Researchers must forward two (2) complimentary copies of any work using Grace Schmidt Room photographic images from either collection at the time of publication.

 

 

Costs

 

Please note that charges apply to the reproduction of photographs, slides and digital images (either on a disk or sent by email).

 

The charges are as follows:

 

 

Photographs or Slides

$10.00 per image for one or two photographs.

For more than two photographs, there is a service charge of $5.00 per photograph.

Plus: the cost of reproduction, including GST and PST, is also charged to the researcher.

 

 

Digital Images

$10.00 per image, plus GST and PST. The cost of a disk or email transmission of the image(s) is included in the charge.
