Archival Collections
The archival collections of the Kitchener Public Library and the Waterloo Historical Society are held by the Grace Schmidt Room.
These manuscript collections include the private papers of individuals and groups. These are a valuable primary source of material of interest to scholars and genealogists.
As these collections must be retrieved from storage, all retrieval requests must be made at least 24 hours in advance of a viewing or visit.
Requests should be made to the Local History Librarian, who will confirm the items to be pulled and the availability of the collection. Please note that same day retrieval requests cannot be guaranteed due to staff availability and service commitments at public information desks.
Researchers should be aware that access to or retrieval of archival materials, including photographs and maps, is not available during Sunday openings of the Library.
