English as a Second Language (ESL)

Kitchener is an increasingly diverse city with approximately one quarter of its population born outside Canada. This means that there are many people whose first language is not English.

To help learners and teachers of English as a Second Language, Main and all of the community libraries have a selection of books, CDs, audiocassettes, videos, and CD-ROMs.

Topics include vocabulary, pronunciation, listening, reading, communication, grammar, idioms as well as TOEFL and other tests of English. Dictionaries are available for loan and for use in the reference section of the library.

Please do not hesitate to ask the staff for help in finding the materials.
