The Word on the Street

The Word on the Street is a one-day national family festival celebrating literacy and the written arts. It will be held in Toronto, Kitchener, Lethbridge, Saskatoon and Halifax on Sunday, September 23 from 11 am to 5 pm and includes free exhibits, performances and hands-on activities.

2012 is Kitchener’s eleventh year! The festival has grown to include seven event tents, a stellar line-up of children and adult authors, intriguing panel discussions/workshops, a Human Library and over 50 exhibitors representing Waterloo Region's thriving writing arts community.

Visit KPL’s Literacy Lane, where you can learn how to download free audiobooks to your iPod or MP3 player. Feeling adventurous? Check out a book from our Human Library!

Stop by the Children’s Tent to meet authors and illustrators, listen to stories and make a fun craft with the KPL team! Visit www.thewordonthestreet.ca/wots/kitchener for more details.

Human Library

KPL has a unique collection of books: the Human Library. These books are real people, who are volunteering to share their story with you. Through conversation, the person (book) shares their story and answers your questions.

KPL’s Human Library will ONLY be available at:
