The Edna Staebler Writer-in-Residence Program was endowed by Ms. Staebler in 1996 through the Kitchener Public Library Foundation. Ms. Staebler established an enduring reputation for having made creative non-fiction her forte. She received the Order of Canada, the Silver Ladle Award and the Canadian Women’s Press Club Award, for her outstanding journalism.
Ms. Staebler was a passionate supporter of the Kitchener Public Library. Her very generous gift enables KPL to invite writers to a short-term residency to offer workshops and the writer’s craft and manuscript appraisals.
