Helaine Becker
Helaine Becker is an award-winning author of both fiction and non-fiction books. Ms. Becker won the 2006 Silver Birch Award for Boredom Blasters: Brain Bogglers, Awesome Activities, Cool Comics, Tasty Treats, and More, and is nominated for the 2008 Silver Birch Award for Secret Agent Y.O.U: The Official Guide to Secret Codes, Disguises, Surveillance and More.

Babytime

It is never too early to bring babies and books together. Babies (0-11 months) and their caregivers are invited to join us for this special program designed especially for KPL's youngest customers. Each 20-30 minute session will include rhymes, songs, stories and bounces.

Little Scientists

Is it a solid? Is it a liquid? Does it float or sink? Budding scientists ages 3.5 to 5 years will explore some simple science concepts by doing “hands-on” experiments, playing games as well as listening to stories.

Be Dazzled - Make Your Own Kaleidoscope
When you hold the tube up to one eye and look through it, you can watch your own light show. The reflections bounce back and forth from side to side creating multiple images.

One Is Fun!

Introduce your one year old to the wonderful world of books. Together toddlers (12-23 months) and their caregivers will enjoy stories, and learn rhymes, songs, and more during this fun and interactive program. Come prepared to giggle and bounce during this 20-30 minute program.

Preschool Storytime

Books are the focus, and fun is the goal. Preschoolers (3-5 year olds) are invited to join in stories, songs, rhymes, and crafts. Each week will be a new theme and a new opportunity to learn and laugh during this 45-minute program.

Reading Buddies

Students in grades 1-4 are invited to discover the wonderful world of books!  This program is designed for reluctant readers who have learned the fundamentals of reading, but need practice.

It's time for toddlers to take over. This fast-paced, interactive program is designed especially for active two year olds (24-35 months) and their caregivers. Join us for 30 minutes of toddler friendly stories, songs, crafts, and lots of fun.

Controlling The Volcano Within
with K-W Counselling Services

Many parents feel angry at times. Children have a way of pushing our buttons.  Learn to recognize your own anger patterns.  Model effective ways of expressing anger positively and teach children to manage their emotions in productive ways.

Wednesdays from 7:00 - 9:00 pm

A registration fee of $120.00 per family is payable the first night of the program Wednesday, March 26.  A $20.00 subsidy is available for registrants who live within the DPPCA area.

Cultivating your Community
with Candace Wormsbecker, Community Garden Council of Waterloo Region

Community gardens are places where people come together to grow vegetables, herbs, fruits, flowers and friendships. They provide an opportunity for people to produce their own fresh, safe, and affordable food, relieve stress, and provide experience opportunities.

Join Candace tonight as she talks about successful Waterloo Region gardens and explains the process to start and maintain a community garden.  The Region of Waterloo Garden Network is designed to assist you plan, develop and run a successful community garden.

with Colleen Ernewein, owner, Home Impressions Staging and Decorating

Help your home stand out among all the other houses in today's highly competitive market.  Home staging can be as simple as freshening up the house by cleaning, de-cluttering and re-arrangement of furniture and easy renovations such as painting, flooring replacement, kitchen/bathroom ideas, and even furnishing an empty house.

Colleen Ernewein, a professional home stager, will talk about furniture placement, wall color trends, lighting, organizational ideas and accessorizing.
