Libraries are open from 9 am to 9 pm today
Kitchener Public Library is a community space full of stories, and soon it will be a place where you can bring your story to life.
In the fall of 2016, Kitchener Public Library unveiled a new digital studio space within the recently renovated Central Library. The goal for the studio was to develop a public space where everyone would be free to explore and create with the latest digital technology. As good stewards for public funds, Library management also felt strongly that this expansion should come through community fundraising.
Kitchener Public Library and the Heffner family, through their business Heffner Lexus Toyota, are excited to announce a major gift in support of digital, musical, and artistic literacy for our community. Thanks to the Heffner family and their generous gift, we are able to proceed with the expansion of our innovative studio space.
Located at Central Library, Heffner Studio is a 3,800 square feet space dedicated to digital media resources and programming. Currently the space boasts a virtual reality station, green screen, 3D printers, and hosts a variety of coding, gaming, game design and podcasting programs.
The expanded Heffner Studio will add:
Construction on the Heffner Studio expansion is scheduled to begin in spring 2018, with completion anticipated for fall 2018.
Celebrating over 57 years of service to the community, the Heffner Motors story began in 1960 when John Heffner Sr. opened a small shop in Kitchener. Today, Heffner Lexus Toyota employs over 225 people and is still proudly owned and operated by the Heffner family.
Since their humble beginnings, the Heffner family has nurtured the family business growing the dealership to be one of the largest and most well-respected businesses in Kitchener-Waterloo. However, for as well-known as the Heffner name has become as a leader in the automotive world, the Heffner family name has long been recognized and associated with being a company that makes it a priority to help the community in which their guests, staff and families work, play and live.
