Library The Grace Schmidt Room contains the local history collection belonging to KPL, the archival collection of the Waterloo Historical Society and the book collection of the Waterloo Branch, Ontario Genealogical Society. Waterloo Historical Society Formed in 1912, the WHS is dedicated to the preservation of Waterloo Region (Ontario) history. The WHS archives are kept in the Grace Schmidt Room, Kitchener Public Library. Woodside National Historic Site of Woodside is the boyhood home of William Lyon Mackenzie King. University

The Record The Record, Waterloo Region’s largest daily newspaper, has been printed for over 125 years. National Archives of William Lyon Mackenzie King kept a diary from 1893, when he was a student at the University of Toronto, until his death in 1950. The diaries contain many references to his hometown of Kitchener, Ontario. National Archives of The papers of Mackenzie King are available at the National Archives of Canada. The collection contains his personal papers and documents kept during his lifetime.
