WATERLOO HISTORICAL SOCIETY ANNUAL VOLUMES

The WHS has published an annual volume of historical articles since 1913.

Indexing for the annual volumes is available until 1994 through the following ways:

• Card catalogue in the GSR – the first number of drawers are the original index for the annual volumes, covering the years 1913 to 1988. Watch for cards with the letters WHS, the year and page numbers. The earlier volumes were bound with several years in each book, so you have to check carefully that you have the right year. The year of the volume does not correspond to the year in which it was published, for example, the 2004 annual volume was published in 2005.

• The next indexing project was a book called Waterloo County to 1972- an annotated bibliography, which was published in 1993. This bibliography serves as an index to the annual volumes from 1913 – 1991. The entries for these articles are indicated by the bold heading Waterloo Historical Society, followed by a year, volume number and page. The bibliography also provides access to items in many archives in Waterloo Region. The location code for KPL is OKIT and for the WHS is OKITW. The call number for this reference book is GSR 971.344 Bloom.

• This bibliography is also available on the WHS computer in the GSR. Please ask library staff for assistance.

• One update of the bibliography was printed in 1996. This booklet covers the years 1992 – 1995. The call number is GSR 971.344 Bloom 1996.

Since that time, no indexing of the annual volume has been done. The Table of Contents includes more details about the articles, but there is no subject access available at this time.
