VERTICAL
(NEWSPAPER CLIPPING) FILES IN THE GSR
The
Grace Schmidt Room (GSR) has 18 cabinets of vertical
(newspaper clipping) files, coverage ranging from
the mid 1960’s to 2005. The files contain
local history and interest items, arranged alphabetically
by subject. The subjects are divided into two
classifications: General and Business.
The files contain clippings from the following
newspapers: The Record, the Waterloo
Chronicle, the New Hamburg Independent,
the Elmira Independent, Cambridge
Times and the Ayr News.
There
are two subject (Business and General)
index binders for the vertical files. They are
located on the top of the vertical file cabinets
in the GSR. The subjects are listed alphabetically.

Clipping
from The Record ceased on December 31,
2004 and local community newspaper clipping ceased
on December 31, 2005.
You
may search the Canadian
Newsstand database for Record newspaper
articles dated January 1, 2005 or later, either
in the library or from home or a remote location.
Please note that a valid KPL card and PIN are
required to access this database from outside
of KPL and its branches.
