WATERLOO REGION BRANCH
The
Waterloo Region Branch of the Ontario Genealogical
Society (OGS) is a partner of KPL, along with
the Waterloo Historical Society, in the Grace
Schmidt Room (GSR) of Local History. Formed in
1972, the Waterloo-Wellington Branch, OGS, served
the genealogical interests and researchers of
Wellington and Waterloo Counties until late 2000.
In 2001, the branch split into the Waterloo Region
and Wellington County Branches. The Wellington
County Branch, OGS, transferred its genealogy
collection to the Guelph Public Library, while
the Waterloo Region Branch maintained its collection
at KPL.

OGS Publications
The
Waterloo Region Branch, OGS, offers for sale a
number of genealogical publications to the public.
However, these must be ordered and purchased from
the Branch directly.

OGS Collection in the GSR
The
Waterloo Region Branch, OGS, maintains its reference
genealogy library in the GSR. The collection contains
genealogy guides and manuals, family histories,
cemetery transcriptions, and indexes to births,
deaths and marriage announcements, census information
and wills, etc. OGS library materials are catalogued
by KPL’s Bibliographic Services Department
and can be searched via the KPL catalogue. The
OGS collection is identified in the catalogue

OGS
Computer
The
Waterloo Region Branch also maintains a computer
in the GSR, which contains a number of OGS databases,
including a Waterloo Master Name Index, 1871 Ontario
Census Index for Heads and Strays, Newspaper Indexes,
and a copy of the Ontario Cemetery Finding Aid.
