TD Summer Reading Club 2008
Laugh Out Loud @ KPL
Tickle your funny bone this summer at the Kitchener Public Library. Staff are preparing lots of side-splitting activities to make children of all ages LOL (laugh out loud). The 2008 TD Summer Reading Club will be enjoyed by children in libraries across the country and it offers a great way to keep children reading all summer long.
Children in Kitchener can register for the club at any KPL location beginning Monday, June 23. Over the summer they will receive a free reading booklet, a poster, stickers, and more. All they have to do is read, read and let us know what they have read. It’s simple. It’s free. And, best of all it is fun and challenging.
Teachers, librarians, and parents know that reading during the summer vacation is an important factor in ensuring that children succeed in school. Studies prove that the reading level of children who do not read during the school break decreases, and they return to school in September behind where they were in June. By participating in the Summer Reading Club not only will children spend the summer laughing, they will also return to school ready to read and succeed.
Join us for our kick-off events happening at each location during the week of June 30th. Come out, watch library staff put on super silly show, then sign up for the club. Read through the rest of In Touch to find the programs scheduled for all each KPL location.
