Connect your Playbook to a wireless network. Tap Settings on your Playbook (upper right hand corner). Select Software Updates. Tap Check for Updates and download the new operating system, OS 2.0.
Step 2: Establish an Adobe ID
Before you can use the app, you'll need to create an Adobe ID. You can do this for free at www.adobe.com/membership. Remember the ID and password you create.
Step 3: Log in to App World Using Your Blackberry ID
Search App World for OverDrive Media Console and download the app. Close App World and return to Home.
Step 4: Open OverDrive Media Console from the list of apps.
Close the Welcome Screen. Swipe down from the top of the screen and select App Settings. Scroll down the App Settings screen until you see where to enter your Adobe ID and password, then touch Authorize.
Swipe down from the top of the screen and select Get Books.
Tap “Add a Library” and enter Kitchener Public Library. Select Kitchener Public Library from the results. Download Library will be added at the top of the Get Books screen.
Tap Download Library to begin searching. When you find a title you want to check out, tap Add to Cart. When you are ready to sign your books out, tap Proceed to Checkout. The title will automatically download and open in the OverDrive Media Console App on your device. Tap the book cover to begin reading the book.
You check your ebooks and audiobooks out using your library card and your PIN.
You can return your ebooks on your Playbook by tapping the plus symbol (+) to the right of each of the books in the book listing within the OverDrive app. This removes the book from your account and frees it up for another customer.
You have a checkout limit of 15 items.
Sony WiFi PRS-T1
The Sony WiFi PRS-T1 e-reader is enabled with a built-in wireless application that allows you to download library books directly using a wireless connection.
You can also download books to the Sony Reader software on your computer and then transfer them to your e-reader.
Downloading Wirelessly
Unlike other Sony e-readers, you can connect to the Internet wirelessly and download e-books directly to your device. You do not need to connect your reader to your computer to download or transfer e-books.
1. Connect to a wireless network using the Settings options on the Sony Reader
2. Press the Home button to open the Home Screen
3. Tap the arrow in the bottom-right corner of the screen
4. Tap "Public Library"
5. Go to KPL's OverDrive Download Library page and search
Downloading to Your Computer
If you do not have access to a wireless connection, you can download e-books to your computer and transfer them to your Sony reader instead. With other e-readers you would use Adobe Digital Editions software to transfer books, but with the PRS-T1 you need to use the Sony Reader Library.
If you have not installed the Sony Reader Library software, you will need to visit http://ebookstore.sony.com/download/ and follow the online steps. You will be prompted to create a Sony Store ID and to register your device. Next, follow the instructions under "Finding and Checking out E-Books" below.
Finding and Checking Out E-Books
1. Go to KPL's OverDrive Download Library page. You may browse e-books by choosing a genre from the menu on the left-hand side of the screen, or by using the search bar at the top of the page. When you find a title you would like to check out, click "Add to Cart", then "Proceed to Checkout". Choose Kitchener Public Library from the drop-down menu that appears. Enter your KPL library card number and PIN, then click on "Log In". Choose the lending period you prefer from the drop-down menu (7, 14 or 21 days) and click on "Confirm Checkout". Click on the "Download" button.
2. If downloading wirelessly, once your book is downloaded, it will automatically be added to your book listing for you.
3. When downloading on your pc, once you choose "Download", a dialogue box will appear asking if you want to "Open" or "Save" the file. Choose "Open". When the download is complete, the title will appear in your list of books in the Reader Library software. Double-click on the book to open and read it on your computer.
4. To transfer the book on to your PRS-T1, plug your e-reader into the computer. You will need to touch the Data Transfer Mode button that will appear on the screen of your device. The PRS-T1 will automatically begin to "sync" with Reader Library and any new titles will then be added to your e-reader.
If the initial download fails, or you need to access your checked out e-books, you may do so by clicking on the "My Account" link at the top of the KPL OverDrive Download Library page. "My Items Out" will show you the items you have checked out along with download links. If an item is already signed out by another customer, you will have the option to "Place a Hold". You will then be notified by email when the item is available for you to sign out.
Returning an E-Book Early
Wireless: Touch "Books" to get a complete listing of titles on your reader. Touch and hold your finger on the book you want to return early. A menu of options will appear. Select "Return Book". Confirm that you want to return the title.
On a PC: In the Reader Library software, click on "My Library" and then "Books". Click on the book cover. Across the bottom of the screen, a set of options will activate – one of these is "More Options". Click "More Options". Select "Return Borrowed Book". The book will be removed from your account and made available for another customer to sign out.
iPhone, iPad, iPod Touch

Kobo Vox
Checking out and using OverDrive e-books and e-audiobooks from your Kobo Vox is easy with the free app. Do not connect your Vox to your computer. You will download the OverDrive Media Console app and download books using your wireless connection on the Vox.
Step 1: Establish an Adobe ID
Before you can use the app, you'll need to create an Adobe ID. You can do this for free at www.adobe.com/membership. Remember the ID and password you create.
Step 2: Start the Kobo Vox and connect to a wireless network.
Touch the Home icon. Touch "All Apps". Touch "Settings". Touch "Wireless & Networks". Next to Wi-Fi, touch the checkbox to turn on wifi. Next to Wi-Fi Settings, choose an available network. Touch the Home icon to return to the home screen.
Step 3: Download the OverDrive Media Console App
Touch the browser icon to open the browser and navigate to www.overdrive.com. Touch the link to "Mobile Apps" at the bottom right of the screen. OverDrive will recognize that the Vox is an Android device and will present you with a link to the Android Market. The Vox cannot connect to the Android Market. Instead choose the link that says "If your device doesn't support Android Market, you can download OverDrive Media Console for Android from OverDrive". When the licence agreement appears, choose "I Agree". The app will begin to download and you will see a small download icon appear in the top left-hand side of your Vox display.
Step 4: Find, install and run the downloaded app
Touch the Home icon on your Vox. Touch "All Apps". Touch "Downloads". In the list of downloaded items, touch "ODMediaConsoleSetup.apk". A window will appear asking if you want to install this application. Touch "install". Touch "Open" to run the ODMConsole app. OverDrive Media Console will open. A startup message may appear with information about updates to the version of the app you have downloaded. To avoid seeing this message each time you run the app, uncheck the "Show at Startup" box, then touch "Close".
Step 5: Browse the Catalogue
With the OverDrive Media Console app open, touch the Menu icon on the Vox. This is the icon consisting of 4 horizontal lines, and which sits between the Home and the Back icons at the bottom of the Vox display. When you touch the Menu icon, you will see several options. Touch "Get Books". Touch "Add a Library". Type in the library name or keyword, e.g., "Kitchener", then touch "Search". Touch "Kitchener Public Library" from the search results screen. Touch "Download Library". The mobile Download Library site will open in your browser.
There are different options for finding books on the Download Library site. You can choose to browse by genre or search for specific authors or titles. In "Search", we recommend choosing "Advanced Search" as a quick way to find available titles in genres you like. In Advanced Search, to find ebooks to download, choose "Adobe EPUB ebooks" in the format drop-down menu; choose a genre that appeals to you; at the bottom of the screen check the box next to "Only show titles with copies available". Your search will return titles that are available for immediate checkout.
The Kobo Vox also supports e-audio downloads from OverDrive – if you are using Advanced Search to find audiobooks, choose OverDrive MP3 Audiobook under the Format drop-down menu.
Step 6: Checking out and Downloading
When you find a title you want, touch "Add to Cart", then, "Proceed to Checkout". You will be prompted to choose your library from the drop-down menu, and to enter your library card number and PIN. Once you have done this, touch "confirm checkout", then touch "Download". The OverDrive app will open and the title will appear in your library. The first time you download a book, you should be prompted to enter your Adobe ID and password (see Step 1) in order to authorize your device.

Connect your Kobo to your computer if you haven't already, using the USB cord that came with your e-reader. A message will appear on your Kobo, indicating that a computer has been detected. Touch "Connect" on the Kobo display screen for your Kobo to be recognized by ADE. Your Kobo screen will display the message "Connected and Charging".
On the bookshelf area at the left of the Adobe Digital Editions screen, below "All Items", "Borrowed Items", etc., you should see an icon and the description "Kobo eReader". If this is the first time you have plugged in your Kobo, Adobe Digital Editions will display a "Device Setup Assistant" message indicating that you need to authorize your device with your Adobe ID (see Step 1).
In the library area, you should see an icon/thumbnail image for the e-book you just checked out. Click and hold on the icon for the e-book and drag it to the name or icon for your e-reader on the left. As you start to drag the title, you will see a red circle with an "x" in the middle. This will change to a green circle with a plus sign when it is positioned correctly and then you may release the mouse button. This will complete the transfer of the e-book to your e-reader. When you disconnect your Kobo, you should now be able to open the book in your e-reader's library.
Step 4: Safely Remove Hardware
On a PC, click "Safely Remove Hardware" icon on the lower right of your monitor. Then click the "Safely Remove USB Mass Storage Device" box. Your computer may instead say "Eject Ereader". Choose the option to eject or remove the device. When you see "Safe to Remove Hardware", you may detach the e-reader from your computer. On a Mac, unmount/eject the e-reader using the Finder before unplugging. Detach the e-reader from your computer.
In some cases, you may need to set your computer to open OverDrive eBook files (.acsm files) in Adobe Digital Editions. Instructions for changing your computer settings can be accessed here.
To delete expired titles from your Kobo, press the Library button. Select Books. A list of books will appear. Touch the menu icon – 4 horizontal lines to the right of the book cover icon. Touch Delete. The book will be deleted from your Kobo.
