PIN
Your PIN is a Personal Identification Number that only you, the borrower, can assign. You need a PIN to view your own library account or to place a hold over the Internet. Do not give out your PIN, as doing so may permit access to information on your library account.
Forgot your PIN?
For security purposes, we are unable to recover a forgotten PIN. If you are unable to remember your PIN, it must be reset. There are three ways to do this:
(1) In Person:
Visit the Information Desk at any KPL location to have a staff member reset your PIN. You will need to provide either your library card number (preferred) or a piece of photo ID in order for staff to be able to access your account.
(2) By Phone:
Contact our InfoLink telephone reference service at 519-743-7502 and ask to have your PIN reset. You will need to provide your library card number, and may be asked to verify your contact information (name, address, phone number).
(3) Online:
-
Visit the library catalogue at http://books.kpl.org/search~S1, or by clicking the "Catalogue" tab near the top of the KPL website.
-
On the catalogue search screen, select "Login to My Account" on the left hand side.
-
On the Login page, click the "Forgot your PIN" link.
-
Enter your first and last name, and library card number, then click "SUBMIT".
-
The system will inform you that an email has been sent to the email address the library has on file for your account. This email contains a link which will take you to a page allowing you to choose a new PIN.
Change your existing PIN
If you know your PIN, and wish to change it:
-
Visit the library catalogue at http://books.kpl.org/search~S1, or by clicking the "Catalogue" tab near the top of the KPL website.

-
Enter your existing PIN, followed by what you want your new PIN to be, and then enter your new PIN once more to confirm. Click "SUBMIT" to complete the change.
If your card does not have a PIN
If you have never had a PIN before, you can create one for yourself.

-
Select the "Login to My Account" option.
-
Enter your first name and last name, and library card number (no spaces).

Please remember your PIN as you will need it to view your record or to request items to be placed on hold for you.
