The Kitchener Public Library Board

 

Mr. Dan Carli -- Chair
Library Board member since January 2004

I feel the library is an important asset in the development of the city and I want to use my experiences to continue to make Kitchener a great place to live by preserving its strong infrastructure.

Mr. Mike Farwell --1st Vice-Chair and Facilities Planning & Building Committee Chair
Library Board member since February 2007

Having an interest in libraries and passion for my community, I am pleased to be involved with the Library Board.  I believe the library should serve an important role in our city’s future.

Employment and Community Involvement:
Professional radio and television broadcaster.
Volunteer activities include the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, GRCA Earth Day and Groundwater Festival.


Ms. Elizabeth Esenbergs -- 2nd Vice Chair and Public Service & Policy Committee Chair
Library Board member since January 2004

As a board member, I will have input into decisions which influence the quality and diversity of library services available to the residents of Kitchener.

Professor, School of Business, Conestoga College Institute of Technology and Advanced Learning
Director, Waterloo Regional Credit Union
Board, Friends of Doon Heritage Crossroads.



Ms. Lynn Gazzola, Finance Committee Chair
Library Board member since February 2007

As a resident of Kitchener, I am interested in the long term development of the city and I believe the library is an important element of this development.

Employment and Community Involvement:
Small business owner.
Member, Rotary Club.


Mr. Brian Burnley
Library Board member since January 2004

I see my membership on the library board as an opportunity to utilize my educational background to help enhance literacy in our community.

Employment and Community Involvement:
Principal, Suddaby Public School.
Suddaby Public School Parent Council.
Volunteer – minor hockey, basketball, and soccer coaching.


Councillor Berry Vrbanovic
Library Board member since April 1996

Employment and Community Involvement:
Kitchener City Councillor, Ward 2.


Mr. Bruce MacNeil
Library Board member since December 2003
Past Library Board member: 1991 - 2000

I am familiar with libraries and have a desire to give back to my community in a meaningful way.

Employment and Community Involvement:
Retired Associate Librarian, Information Services, University of Waterloo.
Former Member, Mayor's Advisory Committee for Kitchener Seniors.
President, Kitchener Horticultural Society.
Member, Kitchener Master Gardeners.
Member, Civic Beautification Committee.


Councillor Kelly Galloway
Library Board member since December 2006


As an elected official I was chosen to sit on the KPL Board and represent Kitchener City Council.  I am a patron of the KPL and have a vested interest in this service, as well as the overall wellness of our community.

Employment and Community Involvement:
Kitchener City Councillor – Ward 4.
Aldaview Services – work with adults with developmental disabilities.
Executive member and Head Coach, KW Lightning Basketball Association.


Leszek Jankowski
Library Board member since February 2007

I would like to make my next life challenge to serve the City of Kitchener by being a dedicated member of the KPL Board.  On my radio show I promote education and culture as a very important part of our life and foundation for our future.

Employment and Community Involvement:
CNC Machine Operator.
President, Canadian Polish Congress District Kitchener.
Founder and executive producer of weekly radio show, “Polish Review”.


Ms. Sue Morgan
Library Board member since February 2007

The Library means a great deal to me and my family.  Accessibility is high on my list of priorities.

Employment and Community Involvement:
Retired.
Centre in the Square Board.
United Way.
Independent Living Centre of Waterloo Region.
KPL KidSpark Volunteer.


Mr. Peter Sweeney
Library Board member since February 2007

As a resident of the downtown core, the Library continues to be a wonderful resource for my family.  As a Board member, I am able to participate in the continued development of our community, and to further the Library’s role in that development.

President, St. Mary’s General Hospital Foundation.
Member, Rotary Club of Kitchener Conestoga.
Board Member, Auditorium Neighbourhood Association.
