Visiting Library

Bringing our books to you

If you are a Kitchener resident, the wonderful resources of the Kitchener Public Library are available to you even if you are unable to come to the library. Visiting Library is a free and convenient service that enriches the lives of individuals who are unable to come to the library due to health and mobility restrictions.

Every month, our carefully screened volunteers bring the joy of reading to at-home clients residing in private residences, nursing/retirement centres, institutions and long-term care facilities. Visiting Library is made possible by the generosity of volunteers who want to help others enjoy the pleasures of reading. Referrals are welcome.

What can I borrow?

Visiting Library clients can choose their own reading material from a selection of books provided by a KPL volunteer during monthly visits. These include regular and large print books, new title releases, paperbacks, stories-on-tape and some magazine titles. Talking books are available to those who are unable to read the printed word.

How do I get started?

Simply call the library (743-0271 ext. 275) or complete the Visiting Library form.

The Volunteer Coordinator will meet with you to discuss your possible involvement in our program. Based on this information, we will determine your eligibility and try to match you with a volunteer. Some clients may experience a waiting period before an appropriate match can be made.
